Two storey homes also have less internal walls than one storey homes, and open plan style living areas create a greater sense of space.
A common misconception is that adding a second storey doubles the price, but in fact a two storey home can be a more cost effective option than a single storey home. This is because the cost of the additional land needed to have the same size one storey home must be taken into account. Often it’s more feasible to reduce the land size and build up, particularly in high density and popular suburbs, where land prices are high.
